Snow Day

IMG_3144.jpg

I hate snow!! It’s wet, it’s cold, and I HATE it!!! Apparently this troubles Veronica ALOT!! She keeps on telling everyone “I don’t understand?? What’s wrong with Felicia, all other dogs love snow!”

I don’t care about “all other dogs”…I am sure little Ms perfect Lego loved it..

I HATE SNOW!

IMG_3145.jpg

I overheard Veronica talk to Dennis about me and my so called “snow problem”.. I heard words like “Ridiculous”…”unheard of”…”Let’s take her to the mountains”…

WHAT?? Up to more snow??? NO WAY!! I’ll just stay in the car, refuse to go out! They can’t make me!!

IMG_3146.jpg

Apparently they can!! They forced me out of the car!!! And we climbed up a small hill into a  white desert of cold!

First I did not move, hoping for some miracle! The snow might, by magic, just disappear! Yes, miracles happen! You hear about them all the time, well that’s what I’ve been told.

IMG_3157.jpg

As it happens, no miracle here!!

“Felicia, let’s have fun in the snow”.

Begrudgingly I started to explore, yes, I’m no wimp! I ran back and forth on the path. Feeling very proud of myself.

img_3147

In Veronica’s book that doesn’t count as “Having fun in the snow”. She threw a great treat into the deep area! Isn’t that just so inconsiderate?

“C’mon Felicia, go and find it”

IMG_3148.jpg

I was torn… should I…or not? Bravery (and hunger) made me struggle into the depth of the unknown.

See how courageous I am? No wimp! I’m a real little daredevil!

IMG_3161.jpg

Sadly the goodie was no where to be found, even with my amazing nose. (Yes, that’s actually my strength) I went quite far.. until I decided…

IMG_3149.jpg

…I wasn’t that hungry after all.

IMG_3150.jpg

Coming back was quite an ordeal. Have you tried going through deep snow? I’ve got news for you: It’s not as easy as it’s looks. (And very uncomfortable)

IMG_3151.jpg

But as I’m a bold and strong  Boxer girl, I made it back safe!

IMG_3103.jpg

I felt Veronica owed me loads of rewards after such a difficult expedition.!

She seemed a little disappointed. “Felicia, go and run in the snow, it’s fun” Fun??  Fighting my way through the deep and cold doesn’t qualify as fun to me!

IMG_3155.jpg

I did try, look, I’m even digging! Not that it made any sense, I thought I’ll give it a shot. Just in case there might be something interesting hidden.

Obviously there was nothing! (Only consequence was a cold and wet nose!!)

IMG_3152.jpg

After many attempts to “have fun in deep snow”. (Well one or two) I decided I prefer running on the paths.

Not that I’m scared, (or a wimp). I just feel I’m more suited for that kind of activity. And I have short legs, everyone knows that. And I needed to stretch my legs. Nothing wrong here.

Like there’s a rule??

IMG_3160.jpg

I  did run…

IMG_3159.jpg

…and run…

IMG_3163.jpg

…and run…

IMG_3162.jpg

…and brake!

img_3164

I had the best of times running back and forth on the path. This was the perfect opportunity to train my running skills so I can beat and impress Indya! Run and run!

IMG_3105.jpg

Veronica, who doesn’t take no for an answer, continued to lure me away from the path..

No way I’m tricked in there again! Oh no!! (I’d rather go hungry than wet!)

IMG_3158.jpg

Veronica, annoyed, told Dennis  “What’s the matter with her. All the dogs I know love to play in the snow”.

Enough already with the “snow dog lovers”! Whats her problem? She can go in herself and “have fun”!

And I don’t see why anyone in their right mind would prefer to struggle through that stuff when there’s a path.

And:

I DON’T CARE ABOUT “ALL OTHER DOGS”

(Dennis didn’t seem worried at all. He’s from California! He get’s me. He’s cool!)

IMG_3153.jpg

Time to go home. I felt tired and happy! I had shown Veronica I’m perfectly capable of having lot’s of  fun in the snow…my way!

IMG_3106.jpg

Snow? Well it’s great, yes, fun! What’s not to like…apart from the cold…and  wet…and the deep areas…  Snow? I love it!

Dog Parkour

IMG_0966.jpg

Veronica loves Opera and Classical music. That’s what the radio’s blasting out during the long drives to Corinne and Agility. (My opinion is irrelevant!)

Until she discovered “Vår Bästa Vän” (Our best friend). A Swedish podcast on dogs with Eva Bodfäldt, Gurgîn Bakirciouglu and Maria Hedquist.

Gone were the strains of “Aida”, “Rosenkavalier”, “Schubert”, “Mendelsohn.. etc..  It morphed into everything about dogs: dog problems, dog sports, dog exhibitions, dog behaviour and so on.

img_2968

Veronica not only became obsessed, but she had to share the content with everyone! (Whether they wanted it or not…) “Eva said this…”, “Gurgîn told that story ..”, “Maria met this breeder ….” etc

Good news is that she learns loads of fun stuff. Like Dog Parkour. Or “How to make a boring walk fun and interesting”. I love it!!

Basically anything, anywhere! She immediately felt this was a perfect entertainment for us.

Especially these days when there are no canine acitivities for a month.

img_2963

I was getting a tad restless. Veronica gave me boxes with gooddies hidden inside. A fun game, for a while, but even that got old.

IMG_2964.jpg

I did my best to keep myself busy. Both Veronica and Dennis felt it was time to take action: Felicia: Dog Parkour! Let’s go!

The walks became a series of obstacles as we went along the road; every day new challenges. We’re just beginners, keeping it simple at the moment. I heard some dogs do crazy stuff!!

IMG_2960.jpg

Walking or running on tree-trunks. Some are very narrow, and not as easy as it looks. Well that’s for beginners, me a near Agility champion…ok, ok, no champion but as a regular Agility dog. It’s easy!

img_2954

Tree-Trunk jumping. Fun! Veronica doesn’t want me to jump too high, or from a great height. She tells me it can be bad for my back.

She always fusses over me. Just because her first Boxer Ficelle had a ligament operation doesn’t mean I will have one…whatever… just a little infuriating!

FYI: I can jump VERY high!! Wish I could show off every now and then!! (Especially in front of Indya!! Perhaps even Inook!)

img_2959

Climbing on Tree-Trunk benches. The different levels makes it interesting.

IMG_2961.jpg

Lying down on a Bench. I felt very brave since there was a little ice. Us Boxers don’t like to lie down on cold ground.

Yes, we’re a little delicate in that way! (Can’t compare us to St Bernhard dogs with their thick fur!!)

IMG_2956.jpg

An improvised tunnel under the Bicycle stand. “Run Felicia, run”. I was a little hesitant in the beginning. Anyone would be!

No, I’m no wimp. I’m just more used to REAL tunnels!

We also train slaloms here.

img_2957

Sitting very still on a Stone. That was hard. Do you see those ducks? Yes, I know, I’m such a good girl not to run away! I wanted to chase them.

Veronica should acknowledge this examplary behaviour; admire my concentraiton and self control!

(She had very convincing goodies.)

img_2966

Putting my paws on a wall to admire the view. Easy! I’ve done that a long time.

I’m not allowed to jump up on the wall, but I bet you I could!!  I tried once… “It’s too dangerous Felicia, you can fall into the water”

She’s such a spoilsport!! Can’t a little Boxer girl take a walk on the wild side??

img_2958

Bench climbing and waiting. The thing is, I want to run and jump down, like in Agility. Veronica feels otherwise… “You need to train to focus”.

What’s she talking about?  I can focus, easy! I just don’t always feel like it!!

I am a free Boxer, I can choose when to focus or otherwise!

IMG_1484.jpg

WTF are these??? And WHY is that one staring at me?? What’s his problem?? I was so intrigued I couldn’t walk at all. They look weird with that long neck!!  And STOP STARING AT ME!!!

(BTW, please admire my focusing skills!!)

Veronica told me to calm down “They’re Lamas, beautiful animals and they’re very nice, look, he’s just as curious as you.”… Yeah, sure, that’s her story. Ha! Bet you he’s planning on a trick, probably to annoy me…

I SAID STOP STARING AT ME!!!

IMG_2969.jpg

Climbing trees is easy. I usually jump up. Then I have to wait. Wait, wait and wait!

I CAN FOCUS! I JUST CHOOSE NOT TO!!!

IMG_2965.jpg

This Tree-trunk Bench is a bit tricky. The thing is, I’m not supposed to continue climbing but to balance on the small space. It’s cool.

IMG_3115.jpg

This morning we walked by the lake. Crazy windy. Usually I love to walk on the wall along the shore. Today…not so! Too cold! (I even admit that ridiculous coat might have been nice).

Dennis came to the rescue. “Let’s go home, this is freezing”

He’s from California…

IMG_3136.jpg

Veronica, who’s Swedish blood has no fear of cold, took me down to the lakeside by our house.

Jumping on tables, playing hide and seek. All in all it was a great walk.

IMG_2976.jpg

Dog Parkour is quite demanding. Yes I assure you! All this climbing, jumping, balancing, running, focusing… Even the strongest, most muscular (like me) Boxer would be tired!

IMG_3138.jpg

I love the Podcast. (Way better then Wagner!) And my life has greatly improved, so you guys keep up your good work and keep Veronica well informed!

A word: tell Veronica all sofas should be Dog allowed, and all beds, and I should get more and better treats come to think of it.

Special thanks to the whole “Vår Bästa Vän” team, Eva Bodfäldt, Gurgîn Bakirciouglu, and Maria Hedquist. Thank you for your amazing Podcast that has taught me and Felicia so much.

January Blues

img_2677

What’s fun in January? NOTHING!

Corinne has a month off so NO AGILITY! I even wish I had “Thursday big dog class”…and that’s saying something if I actually miss that group…!!

Even the ground is boring, it’s frozen and hardly no interesting smells. Mind you this pleases Veronica since I’m a little more focused.

I can let her think the “smelling/digging” phase is over. As she keeps on telling everyone. I’m planning to get back on track ASAP.

IMG_2758.jpg

The month did not start off that well;

You see, every year Veronica sends off Christmas cards. You heard about the tense “family photo shoot”.

Then we have the “what picture should we use” discussion. That’s just as complicated. Every family member needs to give their opinion.

“NO!! Not that one I look horrible”… “Not that one either” etc.. finally, after hours of negotiation, text messages and phone calls : The Family Chrtistmas Photo is ready.

That’s when Veronica found her address book….

IMG_2649.jpg

I had totally “forgotten” about that. Last year, I got a little fed up with the whole card business. I figured no address book; no cards!

This must have slipped Veronica’s mind as she found it in the drawer. She got very annoyed, to say the least. “Dennis, do you know what Felicia has done??!!”

Is she telling on me?

I don’t think he cared. He’s not much of a card sender kind of guy. (He might even secretly agree with me)

Anyway I don’t see her problem, the addresses could easily be read…well nearly all.

img_2650

Shortly after, I was quietly having fun with a cardboard box. Don’t ask me how, but suddenly there was a card there. Perhaps Veronica even gave it to me.

Apparently no.

“Felicia is that our Christmas card?”  Duh…yes!  As it happens only friends and family get one! Not the dogs!

Very unfair!

IMG_2648.jpg

After the “Intense card writing”session it was time for “Obsessive cleaning” time. Veronica loves to clean, organise, declutter… Yes you heard me!! She does! (I know, isn’t that crazy?)

The family all thinks she’s a little neurotic in that way. She organizes the shoes in the entrance, the clothes in her walk-in closet…by colour and genre, the Kitchen (she does not even cook)  etc etc

I felt my help would be superfluous! I got the impression keeping a safe distance was the wiser choice.

img_2647

The huge Christmas tree was thrown out in the garden. I tried to drag it around for a while, unfortunately it was a bit too heavy. Even for my big muscles! Very disappointing.

img_2665

As if this whole January misery wasn’t enough, she made me wear a COAT!! Yes!!! “Felicia it’s very cold. You can wear this coat”

Coat? She’s got to be kidding!

“It’s a famous designer, Barbour, you’ll look very smart”

IMG_4876.jpeg

Barbour who??? Don’t care!! This Barbour guy can stick to making coats for people and leave us dogs out of it!!

MC gave it to me. What was she thinking? Never seen Indya wear her’s.

Ok, I know some dogs, Lilya for one, needs a coat in the winter. And perhaps in Sweden. But me??? NO!! Veronica only wants me to wear it because it’s a famous designer!! Pathetic!

IMG_2577.jpg

I was feeling rather gloomy and felt entitled to a little treat…I went sleeping on the bedroom chair.

Now here comes the BIG surprise! Veronica didn’t react!!! Did she feel sorry for me?  Dennis even said “Put up a blanket for her”!!!

What??? What’s going on here???  Is this some kind of joke??? I’m even a little worried…

img_2653

You’ll all be happy to know: I’m officially allowed up on the chair, as long as my blanket is there! Wow, I never thouhgt this day would come.

Boxer Felicia’s allowed to sleep on the chair!!

Bending a “Veronica rule”…THIS MUST SURELY BE A FIRST!!!

From there on things got better and…

IMG_2659.jpg

… better.

I was invited up on the bed!!! Yes!! (As long as my blanket was there).

All three of us watched “Downton Abbey”. I love that show, it’s romantic and that little Labrador, Isis, is really cute.

Veronica went on and on about how she would love to live in just such a Castle. What? A Castle? Isn’t that a little presumptuous.

“We could have friends and family come to stay with us and Felicia would run everywhere and have so much fun”

IMG_5932.jpeg

Let’s just take a minute here to reconsider. Me a Castle dog.

Looking at it from that perspective. Hmmm…I need to think just a little…Yes! I could do that. Live in a castle. “Felicia, the castle dog is touring her land”. How cool would that be!!!

“Lady Veronica with her Boxer, Felicia von der Andreashöhe” I can totally see myself.

IMG_2705.jpg

A few days later even a better surprise: MC and Indya came on a walk with us. I was so happy. We ran off in high speed!

IMG_2706.jpg

And back in even faster speed. Indya leading the way…of course.

IMG_2710.jpg

I simply can’t get over it: how come Indya has so much energy? I really don’t understand. I think it’s all VH’s doing. He runs with her all the time.

I tried to distract her, as usual she ignored me.

IMG_2708.jpg

Off she ran, again. I had no choice but to follow. I don’t want to see her smug “I’m so fast” look.

Would it kill her to show a little consideration for her short legged BFF?  Run a bit less? Anyway, what do I care: I have big muscles! Even Dr L says so!

IMG_2709.jpg

I admit I was quite relieved when the walk ended. Don’t get me wrong, we had so much fun, but all this running… is it really necessary?

I’m not complaining but…I think…oh, is that Turkey in her hand?

img_2764

Back home I went into “recuperating” mode.

Should I start running more, perhaps I need to get into better shape. Long distance, endurance that is. I’ll think about it tomorrow…I’m too busy sleeping!

Little E and the Holiday

IMG_2458.jpg

Guess what?? Little E is here!! I’m so happy!! This afternoon Veronica came back with the whole family from the airport. LS, DO and of course, the star: Little E!

She took my leash, hoping for a walk surely. And had loads of candy so we could get used to each other again.

img_2334

She arrived with a hullabaloo! Letting the whole house, possibly the whole neighbourhood, know: “I’M HERE”!!

She immediately took over food chores: “Sit Felcia and you’ll get dinner”, making it clear I was to follow instructions! No monkey business!!

IMG_2459.jpg

We played in the yard and the garden for hours. Mostly consisting in her giving me goodies. Talking non stop “You see Felicia now we put some gas here”…”Come Felicia we’re invited for tea”…”Felicia …”!

There was no other option then to obey. I did so gladly! Easiest rewards ever. Just follow Little E around!

Not like with Veronica when I have to perform all sorts of complicated “tasks”!!

IMG_2335.jpg

Every meal I hung out by her seat. She usually shares her food, well the stuff she didn’t like. It makes perfect sense, and sharing is very “New age style”. I’m all for it!!

Not sure Veronica and LS saw what was going on. I’m certainly not going to rat her out. No no no, I am a firm believer in individual initiatives when it comes to food…and dogs!

IMG_2258.jpg

We had a special little Christmas party for the family. Gifts and all.

Dennis gave Little E some Turkey for me. I’ve said this before: He knows what’s good for us dogs!!!

A slight problem occurred though…

img_2329

…Little E recieved these fun plastic horses.  I very strongly  felt they should be examined properly… you know, just to make sure they were safe for a three year old.

Tell you what, they’re very poorly designed!! A tiny dog tooth and boom the leg was off!! Probably not appropriate for Little E at all…they should thank me for finding out!!

IMG_2331.jpg

Little E cried and was very upset at first. Then she looked at me; “Felicia I forgive you”. Isn’t that just the sweetest?

I know someone who could take a leaf out of her book…now who could that be… let’s think for a moment…yep: Veronica!!

IMG_2491.jpg

Actually I also think she forgave me because she immediately got a new gift. Veronica bought her a SINGING DOLL!!! Yes you heard me!! SINGING!! What more: A singing Elsa!! Real loud Elsa!

There was no volume button, it only came in LOUD and LOUD and LOUD!!  She made it sing ALL THE TIME!! Over and over again “Let it go, let it go…”

I think LS and DO secretly hate Veronica just a little right now… probably Dennis too. He spent alot of time in his office.

img_2365

Then there was a tiny misunderstanding. You see I thought the doll meant she didn’t want the horses any more…I promise,  I really thought so. As it happens: she does want them.

Veronica was furious!! How was I suppose to know that?? An honest mistake, anyone could have made.

IMG_2327.jpg

New year eve came, we all went shopping. I was very excited to be able to come along…at first. That is until they stuffed all the uninteresting food in the back with me. No space left!

Veronica looked at me ” Felicia, it’s only for two minutes”… Yeah well I don’t care, two minutes or ten… and why only uninteresting food? I heard her tell LS “Make sure no cheese or bread is in the back”. What does she think, I’m a food thief??

(Had this something to do with the meat incident the other day? Apples and pears here guys, let’s not get things mixed up)

IMG_2374.jpg

Littel E got all dressed up in an adorable ballet outfit. Look at her, isn’t she just the cutest little ballerina???

img_4974-2

The family arrived and with them a HUGE shock: Veronica took Indya and me upstairs!! YES, away from all the party fun!!

Apparently “Party fun” can be stressful for us! P L E A S E!! We love parties, we’re both real party animals!!

“Felicia and Indya this is much better for you”…says who?? Did she even ask Eva (Bodfäldt)?? or SPS or Corinne?? Did she consult with the specialists???

IMG_2477.jpg

The next morning Little E was all “Party, party” she just couldn’t stop. Every one else looked worse for wear…apart from Veronica!! She’s just like Little E!!! Too much energy.

IMG_2423.jpg

We watched the “New years’s concert” from Vienna. Little E refused to wear anything other than her tutu…and a hat.

img_2476

It’s Little E’s last day. I’m very sad. We share the breakfast…: “New Age Style”.

IMG_2555.jpg

We went for a long walk. I never pull and Little F can walk safely. She absolutely loves to hold the leash “I want to hold Felicia”!

Veronica tried to tell her we can both hold on together. That did not go down well …at all!! “I CAN HOLD HER  ALONE”.. I think even the birds on the other side of the field heard her.

IMG_2578.jpg

We chilled in the living room. She’s the best “Candy machine” ever “Felicia älskar godis” (Felicia loves  candy)… yep, you got that right!

IMG_2530.jpg

In the evening we lit some sparklers. We’re both fascinated! So beautiful. We had so much fun. A perfect ending to a New Year’s holiday.

IMG_2579.jpg

The little family has left. I was not even allowed to accompany them to the airport. The house is quiet. Too quiet!! Frankly boring!!

I miss the noise, the screams, even the singing doll and of course the food sharing!!
